Plans & Billing Overview


Nobi offers a simple usage-based plan that starts at $25/month and includes 250 conversational messages and 2,500 searches. Additional searches are $0.01/search and additional conversational messages are $0.10/message. In addition, you get 100 free preview messages per month to use on the Nobi dashboard so you can test how Nobi answers your most common questions before going live. You can start with a 30 day free trial and cancel at any time before the trial ends.
The standard plan is available for up to 5,000 products and 5,000 knowledge base documents. For larger catalogs or knowledge bases, enterprise plans are available for volume-based discounts, dedicated support, and custom integrations.

Available Plans

Nobi offers one standard plan and enterprise options. All plans include all features -- the only difference is usage volume and support level.
Nobi Plan:
  • $25/month
  • 2,500 searches and 250 messages includes per month

Enterprise:

  • For businesses with large catalogs or custom needs

Free Trial

Every new account gets 100 free preview messages per month for testing in the dashboard (no credit card required). When you add a payment method, your 30-day free trial begins with full plan limits:
  • 100 preview messages -- available in the dashboard for testing before you start a trial. These are for dashboard testing only, not on the live site.
  • 250 messages and 2,500 searches -- full plan limits during your 30-day trial
  • Full functionality -- access to all Nobi features
  • No credit card required to sign up -- explore the dashboard and test with preview messages per month. Add a payment method when you are ready to start your trial and go live.

Trial Limitations

You can set up your account, configure products, and build your knowledge base without a credit card. The 100 preview messages let you test Nobi in the dashboard. However, a payment method is required to start your 30-day free trial and embed Nobi on your live website. This ensures uninterrupted service when your trial ends.

What Happens If You Reach Your Trial Limits

Your free trial includes the same limits as the paid Nobi plan (250 messages and 2,500 searches). If you reach either limit before your trial ends, Nobi will stop responding on your site. Overage charges only apply after your trial converts to a paid subscription. This protects you from any surprise charges during your trial period.

What Happens When Your Trial Ends

When your 30-day trial ends:
If you have added a payment method:
  • Your subscription ($25/month) begins automatically
  • First partial month is prorated, then $25/month on the 1st of each month
  • Your usage counts (messages and searches) reset for the new billing period
If you have not added a payment method:
  • Nobi will no longer appear on your website
  • Your dashboard remains accessible
  • Your data, settings, and configuration are preserved
  • You can subscribe at any time to reactivate
You will receive email reminders before your trial ends so you have time to add a payment method.

How Billing Works

Billing Cycle

All subscriptions are billed monthly, anchored to the 1st of each month:
  • Billing date: 1st of each month
  • Billing period: 1st through last day of the month
  • Usage counts reset: 1st of each month at noon UTC

Starting Mid-Month

If your trial ends mid-month, your first invoice is prorated:
Example: Your trial ends on March 15th ($25/month plan)
  • First invoice: ~$12.50 (prorated for March 15-31)
  • Second invoice (April 1st): $25 (full month)

Payment Methods

We accept:
  • Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover)
  • Debit cards
Payments are processed securely through Stripe. Nobi never stores your card details directly.

Invoices and Receipts

After each payment:
  • An invoice is emailed to your account's admin email
  • Invoices are available in the Stripe billing portal
  • Access the portal anytime from Account → Billing → Manage Payment

Changing Plans

Merchants on legacy plans (Starter or Growth) can switch to the new Nobi plan from the Billing page. Enterprise merchants have custom contracts managed separately.

Switching to the Nobi Plan

When you switch from a legacy plan:
  • The switch takes effect immediately
  • Billing is prorated for the remainder of the current month
  • Credit from the current plan is applied to the next invoice

Usage Limits and Overages

The Nobi plan includes monthly limits for both searches and conversational messages. When you approach or exceed your limits, you have options:
  • Message limit: 250/month (standard), custom for enterprise
  • Search limit: 2,500/month (standard), custom for enterprise
  • Message overages: $0.10/message
  • Search overages: $0.01/search

Overage Options

Stop (Default)
  • When you hit your message or search limit, Nobi stops appearing on your site
  • No additional charges
  • Service resumes when your billing period resets
When Nobi hides itself on your site for billing reasons, it also fires a nobi-hidden-due-to-billing window event so your site's own code can adjust (for example, reclaim the space or show a fallback). See the Events Reference for details.
Continue and Charge Overages
  • Nobi continues working beyond your limit
  • Overages billed at $0.01/search and $0.10/message
  • No service interruption

Usage Warnings

You will receive email notifications when you reach:
  • 90% of your message or search limit
  • 100% of your message or search limit
These warnings help you decide whether to adjust your overage settings.

Enterprise and Custom Plans

For businesses with large catalogs, high volume, or custom needs, we offer enterprise arrangements:

Custom Pricing Models

Flat rate - Fixed monthly or annual fee with custom message limits
Commission-based - Pay a percentage of sales attributed to Nobi
Per-message - Pay only for what you use, no monthly commitment

Annual Billing

Enterprise customers can opt for annual billing with:
  • Discounted rates
  • Predictable budgeting
  • Custom payment terms

Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time from the Billing page.

What Happens When You Cancel

  • Your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period
  • Nobi continues working until then
  • After the period ends, Nobi stops appearing on your site
  • Your dashboard, data, and settings are preserved
  • You can resubscribe anytime to reactivate

Resubscribing

If you cancel and later want to resubscribe:
  1. Go to Account → Billing
  1. Click Resubscribe or select a new plan
  1. Add a payment method if needed
  1. Your subscription begins immediately
Note: Resubscribing after cancellation does not start a new trial.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between a search and a conversational message?

A search is a query sent to Nobi when in search mode. In general, these are short messages with no punctuation and are usually the first message in a conversation that’s launched from the search bar component. They are intended to be faster, do not use LLMs, and are meant for customers using Nobi as their primary search engine. A message is any other query sent to Nobi.

Can I switch from a legacy plan?

Yes. Merchants on legacy Starter or Growth plans can switch to the new Nobi plan at any time. The switch takes effect immediately with prorated billing, and credit from the old plan is applied to the next invoice.

What happens to my data if I cancel?

Your data is preserved. If you resubscribe, everything will be exactly as you left it -- products, knowledge base, settings, and conversation history.

Do unused messages roll over?

No. Message and search limits reset on the 1st of each month at noon UTC. Unused allowances do not carry over.
